Nutrition plays a vital role in helping you achieve the best result from your medical treatment. Calories are needed to provide energy to all of the cells of the body to help maintain their many important functions. Protein is important to help heal, rebuild and repair damaged tissues. During the course of your treatment, you will need more protein and calories then normal. All newly diagnosed patients admitted to the Leukemia/BMT Program are highly encouraged to eat well even if they do not have any treatment.
